Message from Mari

Thank you friends, for praying for me as I had my second round of chemotherapy yesterday. I have been tucked up in bed ever since, recovering.
The weekend after chemo is generally ok because I'm given steroids ( intravenously and in tablet form) to help boost me. These drugs wear off by Monday and it was then, that I became unwell last time. In light of this, I am a little nevous about Monday and the following days. It would be good to pray that I get no nasty surprises.
My digestive system is now being controlled by more drugs. I feel like a walking chemist counter and take a mountain of pills every morning.

I am thankful for the lovely medical team looking after me at Southmead hospital and for the enlightening conversations I have had with others in the hospital ward, who are also having chemotherapy. (I like to find at least one thing to be grateful for every day).

Thank you for your faithfulness to us in this journey. Your prayers and messages have kept me positive in the midst of this battle (which is in both the body and the mind). Your messages make me smile ( even on bad days).

Enjoy your weekend.
With Love, Mari x

Dear Mari,
Kept checking the website for some update after the chemo on friday. Glad to know you are managing, will specially pray for monday and the following days. Praying for Gods love and comfort to surround you. So proud of you that you are staying positive and finding things to be grateful for.

Heres a verse that I love from the bible, its somewhere in Psalms..."Those who trust in Him will never be put to shame".

Have a smooth recovering weekend!
Lots of love and prayers,
Debbie and Johan

Hi Mari,
Good to get the update. Will remember you especially on Monday morning though you tend to be in my waking thoughts most days. Folk in the URC here in Ottery are praying too and regularly ask how you're doing.
We're off to Tobago Thursday for Jamie's wedding so you'll be getting prayed for from another part of the globe!
Glad to hear that Phil will be with you soon
Love to you all

Hi Mari,
Sounds tortuous and you still manage a sense of humour! How do you do that? Praying that you will be cushioned from the worst effects of the treatment.
Love and hugs,
Helen

Dear Mari

You are doing so well - you are an inspiration. Will be praying for you for Monday as the medication wears off - quite handy us being 12 hours ahead as we can get a head start to the day for you - (there is probably no logic in that at all!) (Better be careful as I will get the reputation for the ridiculous postings! My next one will be more intelligent.)
Much love to you and your Mum and Dad

Hi Mari,
So glad you made it to the meeting this morning, it was so encouraging to hear those personal experiences. I sent you a box of teabags with your Dad, which is a bit weird! but I find they're really good if you feel a bit sick. Thinking of you this week, and pray that there will be something to be glad about each day. Love , Bridget and Roger.

Dear Mari
Will be praying for you for Monday. Have found it difficult to keep up with the Aukland 24/7 prayer calendar as the time difference now I am in the USA is so vast and combined with my schedule...I'm easily confused!!! Just wanted to assure you of my prayers for you whilst I sit in the Prayer Room at IHOP even though I can't commit to the same time every day.
I've set your picture from the blog as the background/desktop to my laptop too so that is an extra reminder to lift you up when I am at 'home' also!
Bless you, love Kathy Laver (Brighton)

Hi Mari,
we are praying for you to get through this week with less discomfort than last time. We know what you mean about the battle in the mind and the body. The devil fights dirty, but our God is greater and HE says, "Fear not for I am with you. I will strengthen you and uphold you with my victorious right hand" (Isaiah 41:10). The church family in Salford are praying for you also. John and Gwyn

Hi Mari,

Saw your Dad today. He and Christine were working in the kitchen in The Wild Goose and what good washer-uppers they are! They did stop short of washing the clients' feet though! We are very privileged - Also had Neil and Linda working here last week.

Praying that the yukky feeling isn't as bad this week, when the steroids wear off.
Good to hear that Phil is coming over.

Lots of love,
Andy and Gill

Heya Mari!

Hows the grog? Hope you're feeling better by now, mum said you have some pink pills, that sounds fun - although given the circumstance not really much fun! I always try to get the pink ibuprofen when i need them, I think the colour makes me feel better!

Have been thinking of you muchly, sending some virtual love and hugs from Plymouth.

PS. How was your French GCSE? That one always makes me laugh!
