Today at the Hospital

Mari had her first visit at Southmead Hospital today which is where she will be having her chemotherapy. She will be starting that next Friday ( 2nd May) at 9.30 am. and will expect to be in the hospital for three hours. At this stage they are predicting a course of 12 treatments every fortnight. After the six months everything will be reassessed.

The Doctors are having a final case meeting on Thursday 1st to finalise their diagnosis etc. They are still questioning the nodes in her abdomen and the fluid around her heart. Please pray that they will agree with the Kiwi Doctors who thought the nodes were insignificant. The fluid around her heart could either be a by-product of the lymphoma or that the area is diseased. Obviously the first is preferable!

The Doctors have to spell out all the side effects and worse case scenarios so please pray that none of the worst case scenarios will occur. Mari was told that chemo can be a trigger for other cancers developing later on. They talked about the possibility of relapse, which though it is slight, it would be good to pray that never happens. Please pray too that other side effects like nausea will be controlled.

Mari has to do some wierd things in preparation for treatment including an appointment with the hospital wig lady on Monday. I ( Dave) am trying hard to hide my jealousy but it slips out at times.

Thank you for your continued support, love and prayers. We will keep the updates coming .

God bless

Much love
Dave, Rhi and Mari

Hey Mari
You are so brave facing all this. Praying that Jesus is really shining through all this for you, and that you'll know his comfort and on-going strength day by day, especially in the difficult bits. Keep telling him how much you love him. You are such an inspiration. Really praying the drs are happy with the diagnosis - it's good that you get to get a second opinion. Lots of love, Jerem & Lyn

Sweet Mari... we only just heard the news today... But suffice it to say you are firmly in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this next stage back in England.
You seem to have an incredible support network, and we'll add our voices and love to all of theirs.
Big hugs... Miriam and Sam xxx

It was so good to see you on Friday Mari. I am praying that God's peace is with you every minute - day and especially night. In your body, in your mind, in your heart, in your family... just everywhere! Also, I am going away and have quite a lot of DVDs so if you wanted to borrow them for a year you would be very welcome! xxx

Hi Mari,

Glad you're safe home and able to get on with the treatment. Thinking of you on Friday, hope it isn't too awful. My sister had something similar and had chemo and everything 2 years ago, and now she's back to normal again. So keep looking up to Jesus.
All our love, Bridget, Roger and Family.

Hi Mari,

I am glad to hear you're back in the UK safe and sound. I hope the appointment today with the wig lady is more fun that it is upsetting. Let me know if/when you would like visitors (i will be on maternity leave soon so will have some more time in the day).

You continue to be in my prayers. Laura x

Hi Mari

Not sure if you remember me (it's been a long time and we were much smaller then than we are now...!) but my Mum told me what's been going on and I wanted to send you the hugest, biggest love. Keep strong and positive, I am thinking of you.

Lots of love

Zoe Hepden xx

Dear Mari,
Inspired to do some singing and shouting on your behalf. May just have to pray for my neighbours too!

Sing, O daughter of ZIon,
Shout aloud, O Israel!
Be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O Daughter of Jerusalem!
The Lord has taken away your punishment,
he has turned back your enemy.

Woke up this morning feeling the need to pray for you all, particularly for you Rhi. Took Psalm 91 as my prayer focus:
He/she who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty
and
whilst walking dog singing for you
"Hallelujah grace like rain to fall down on you" - 3 white doves flew over against the hovering dark clouds. That is how God sees you - pure - as you go through this. I feel you are a real inspiration to us all, leading by your example of trust. Love you all judy
